Spotted: Spring Trends at Goodwill
It may still be cold outside, but the 2013 spring/summer fashion trends have already made their debuts on the runways. During a recent visit to the Concord Goodwill store, I spotted several fresh basics that were right on target with key spring trends.
These aren’t just for tourists anymore. Bermuda, or knee-length, shorts are among the most classic bottoms for warm weather, and I spotted several pairs featuring fresh springtime patterns (madras, seersucker and plaid). Paired with a tailored blazer and peep-toe pumps, you can coordinate the perfect outfit for a low-key evening out.
Bold stripes
Just as stripes were plentiful on the fashion runways this year, striped shirts and pants are abundant at Goodwill. Almost immediately I discovered an off-the-shoulder, black and white top hiding between two nautical striped sweaters. These versatile tops make your money go a long way because they offer so many styling options.
If you are tired of hiding under winter layers, cutouts and sheer materials are a quirky but modest way to show off some skin. I loved these simple yet elegant designs on ladies’ blouses.
A renewed focus on black and white brings a big sigh of relief to those of us seeking color palettes other than the traditional pastels. Because I believe you can never go wrong with a classic, white button-down and black cigarette pants, I left with both during my shopping expedition, all for under $10.
Other new trends to look for this spring include leather, short suits, sporty dresses and beading. What will you shop for when the weather turns warmer?
