Goodwill: The Original Recycler

April 12, 2010

Environmental sustainability has been central to Goodwill’s mission since its foundation in Boston in 1902. By donating your gently-used goods, you help reduce the amount of items sent to our landfills, and when you make a purchase at one of our stores, you give each item you buy a new life. And then, with the funds generated by the sales in our stores, we help people in our community get a second chance–the training they need to find and keep a job.

It’s not just clothing that finds new life at Goodwill, however. We’ve joined forces with Dell to create Reconnect, a computer recycling option that’s good for the environment and both convenient and free for residents. Drop off your old computers any Goodwill donation site; we’ll recycle the parts or rebuild and refurbish them for sale at our Computer Works store.

To celebrate Earth Month, we’ve got five opportunities to recycle your unwanted computers in April:

Saturday, April 17: Charlotte Clean and Green, 10am-3pm
Donation trailer will be parked in a lot at 1515 Elizabeth Avenue, with drop-off entrance on North Torrence Street near Central Piedmont Community College. Click here for more information.

Sunday, April 18: Charlotte Nature Museum Earth Day Celebration, 12-4pm
