The countdown has begun.
With just 10 days left before our annual Cornerstone Celebration at The Westin Charlotte, we’re starting to get excited!
This year, we’ve got some new things planned. First up is our Goodwill Trunk Show, with fashionable finds from all 20 of our stores. In addition to clothing, we’ll have a display featuring items from our Computer Works store. Be sure to arrive a little early so you have some time to shop!
Plus, we’ve enlisted the newest students from our Occupational Skills Training classes to serve as ushers this year. Whether they’re from our Banking & Customer Service Training, Construction Training, or Hospitality & Tourism Training classes, we’re sure they’ll be glad to meet you as they show you to your seat. After all, your support is what makes these programs possible.
One thing that’s stayed the same: this event is truly a celebration of how lives can be changed through the power of work. We’re looking forward to sharing our mission with everyone who attends, and having a chance to share our award winners’ stories, too. There’s David Hollars, executive director of the Centralina Workforce Development Board, who will receive the 2010 Jack Callaghan Cornerstone Award for his passionate commitment to helping people facing barriers to employment. There’s Cheryl Keller, who we introduced to you last week as our “volunteer extraordinare.” There’s Carolina Cooperative Federal Credit Union, which will be recognized with our Corporate Champion Award. And then there are the three recipients of our Good Work! Awards, Clairsean Alexander-Floyd, Donald Silla, and Wayne Brown, who will share their life-changing experiences at Goodwill.
In the meantime, we’re pinning down the last-minute details and working hard to make sure the event runs perfectly. We can’t wait to see you there!
