What a day!

May 20, 2010

Today’s Cornerstone Celebration was a hit! We gathered more than 700 of our closest friends into a lovely room at The Westin Charlotte, and celebrated the people who make it possible for us to generate numbers like these.

Here are the award winners:

Cheryl Keller, Volunteer of the Year (pictured here with Michael Elder, our president and CEO). Cheryl was honored for her two decades of volunteer service with us, and she’s receiving an award for her efforts from Goodwill Industries International next month. If she looks familiar, it’s because you’ve met her before.

Paris Aranguiz from Carolina Cooperative Federal Credit Union, Corporate Champion of the Year, which was recognized for its more than 15 years of partnership with Goodwill, where it offers financial education, one-on-one personalized financial counseling and administer a special needs loan fund for Goodwill team members.

David Hollars, executive director of the Centralina Workforce Development Board, where he provides the expertise and resources to support the Board’s work with economic development, education and businesses. Hollars was chosen by Goodwill as the 2010 recipient of the Jack Callaghan Cornerstone Award because of his more than 30 years of dedication to workforce development benefiting the people of the Carolinas. (In the picture, he’s flanked by Michael Elder on the left, and Erica Bryant of WSOC-TV on the right.)

Clairsean Alexander-Floyd, Donald Silla, and Wayne Brown, our three GoodWork! Award winners, who received services and training from Goodwill and have excelled in the workplace. We’ve shared Clairsean’s story with you already, but stay tuned for more about Donald and Wayne on Success Story Fridays to come!
