We’re Open in Rock Hill!

September 23, 2011

Smiling G ready to welcome our first Rock Hill shoppers!

Shoppers lined up early last Saturday morning in hopes of being among the first to check out our new Rock Hill Goodwill Center. Several community leaders helped cut the ribbon at 8:45 a.m., including Chairman of the Rock Hill Area Council Rocky Miller, South Carolina Senator Wes Hayes and York County Councilman William “Bump” Roddey.

When doors opened at 9 a.m., shoppers streamed inside to check out the merchandise – clothing, shoes, accessories, home decor, books and small appliances. Throughout the day, two lucky shoppers were chosen to participate in a 2-minute shopping spree, and all shoppers received complimentary refreshments (courtesy of Food Lion). Many entered to win prizes courtesy of WRHI and Interstate 107, who were broadcasting on-site for most of the day.

We enjoyed seeing many of our regular shoppers and fans, including our friend Mr. Goodwill Hunting! More importantly, Saturday we broke our record in sales – meaning we can help even more people through our job training and employment programs! Remember, 90 cents of every dollar spent at Goodwill helps fund our programs, giving people the skills and confidence they need to gain employment.
